What is IEC Modification?

IEC modification is a process where the terms and conditions of an International Trade contract between two parties are modified in a legally approved manner. The process involves both parties agreeing to new terms, and the contract being amended to reflect the changes.

The highlights of the (IEC) Modification are:

The IEC amendment adds a new Risk Management Clause to the IEC 62443-2-2 security standard that requires the implementation of an effective risk management process.

It also adds a new requirement for Attack Surface Reduction (ASR), which requires organizations to reduce attack surface by identifying and eliminating unnecessary services, protocols, ports, and devices.

The amendment also adds a new requirement for Network Segmentation, which requires organizations to segment their network into multiple subnets and configure firewalls to ensure that only authorized users and devices can access specific parts of the network.

The amendment also adds a new requirement for Software Security Assurance, which requires organizations to perform security testing of all software that interacts with their systems.

Finally, the amendment adds a new requirement for Security Monitoring, which requires organizations to continuously monitor their networks for suspicious activities and anomalies.
